The LSA's Brief Pre-Negotiation Strike Update— June 4

To our Dear Law Students,

The LSA Executive Council is profoundly troubled about the risk of the strike extending into the fall semester. Alarmingly, the university has no negotiation sessions scheduled from June 8 to August 18.

The LSA Executive Council deems this situation utterly unacceptable. The consequences of this prolonged strike on students are severe, putting many of us in a precarious position, and the impact will only worsen over time.

The LSA Executive Council has been in regular contact with AMPL and the University administration to protect students' interests amidst their labour conflict. We are actively exploring alternative measures to statements and private discussions to pressure stakeholders into ending the strike as swiftly as possible. More information will be shared following the June 7 negotiations, with our response contingent on the outcome.

We urged the parties to come to an agreement on June 7th to lift the strike. If no proper collective agreement can be reached, we implored the McGill administration to negotiate again with AMPL before August 18.
